Stavo cercando alcuni parametri di IE sul registro di windows con un collega quando, vedendo la scritta UserAgent="Mozilla/4.0.... ", ho detto con la massima convinzione che non poteva essere.
Dopo una breve discussione ho fatto una prova da una pagina asp che mi ha risposto:

Con firefox la stessa pagina mi dice:

Cercando un po' su wikipedia ho trovato Mozilla e Mozilla Foundation ma non mi sembra che abbiano nulla a che fare con IE. Vuol dire forse che Microsoft identifica il suo browser secondo lo standard libero di Mozilla? |

Forse non c'entra nulla ma potrebbe essere il contrario. Netscape ha la possibilità di appoggiarsi sia al motore di rendering di Mozilla che a quello di Intenet Explorer (da quel che leggo, non l'ho installato).

Capperi, in tanti anni non ci avevo mai fatto caso.
Molto significativa della confusione che regna ora è la frase:

Chissà se un giorno qualcuno dirà che Microsoft ha inventato uno user agent nuovissimo e soprattuto magico chiamato Mozilla.  |
